We Adora Your Fedora: A Timeless Hat Collection

The Fedora’s Forever Appeal

For over a century the fedora hat has been highly regarded as a common fashion accessory for both women and men wanting to make a statement. In 1882 at the théâtre du Vaudeville, in Paris, French stage actress Sarah Bernhardt wore the soft brim and indented crown hat while performing as the heroine of the play titled Fédora. Critics immediately predicted her look would “affect the fashions,” and it did. The name stuck and shortly thereafter the fedora became popular amongst women activists fighting for gender equality during the late 19th century.

In the 1920’s, during Prohibition, the fedora gained popularity amongst men and for the next 20 years infamous gangsters such as Al Capone, Clyde Barrow, and Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel were seen wearing them. Hollywood further accentuated the appeal by making movies in the 1940s and 50s which featured the fedora as an icon of manliness and mystery worn by Humphrey Bogart and Cary Grant.

Within the 21st century celebrities such as Justine Timberlake, Johnny Depp, Reese Witherspoon, and even our former president Barack Obama have been photographed sporting the fedora. The look has prevailed for over 100 years and although there have been historic heights and unnoticed lows in which the fedora hat’s popularity has oscillated, its appeal is anticipated to last forever. As a staple in both modern and vintage fashion, the fedora’s adaptability makes it easy to dress up or down and the following collection will have both women and men craving more.

Women’s Fedoras Made with Fashionable Femininity

Over the years hatmakers have expanded the fedora’s look by altering its brim size, changing up the materials, and adding more decorative hat bands. In many ways these adaptations have given the hats a more feminine appeal that can be worn with just about any outfit.

The following fedora hats showcase everything from hand woven venting on the straw C-shaped crown that will give your summer wear a breath of fresh air to quality wool felt with a sturdy polyester burlap brim that will compliment your late night glam and go getups.
