How to Measure Your Head
- Grab a soft measuring tape or a piece of string (like twine or a shoelace) and a ruler or measuring tool
- Wrap a soft tape or string around your head to measure about 1/4 to 1/2 inch above your ear and about 3/4 to an 1" inch above your brow line (see image)
- Mark the tape or your string, where it intersects, with your finger.
- Record your measurement in inches or centimeters (centimeters is often more accurate)
- If you're using a string, run it along side the ruler as many times as necessary to get a complete measurement
- MEASURE AGAIN!
- Always measure more than once until you get the same number twice
- Find your size in the chart for the perfect fit

I ran across American Hat Makers in Orlando a couple years ago and always wanted to buy the “Lone Wolf” leather top hat, but ended up buying the “American Flag” hat “first”. I've been looking for an American Flag hat, for over 50 years. More in the style of Uncle Sam's hat ... and realistically this is as close as I've found. I am a red white and blue nut ... even own a truck that is red white and blue. Yet I give the hat 4 stars, as I measured it to another top hat I own, and wear, which fits well, and this hat is a bit tight. The added fitment pieces, if removed completely fit better, but the velcro pulls my long grey hair. Quality and smell of the hat is though near perfection ... just not a perfect fit.
