- Grab a soft measuring tape or a piece of string (like twine or a shoelace) and a ruler or measuring tool
- Wrap a soft tape or string around your head to measure about 1/4 to 1/2 inch above your ear and about 3/4 to an 1" inch above your brow line (see image)
- Mark the tape or your string, where it intersects, with your finger.
- Record your measurement in inches or centimeters (centimeters is often more accurate)
- If you're using a string, run it along side the ruler as many times as necessary to get a complete measurement
- MEASURE AGAIN!
- Always measure more than once until you get the same number twice
- Find your size in the chart for the perfect fit

I've only had my hat for about a week, but every day I wear it I receive compliments. It's different from what a lot of people wear, which I like. It's not a tall Top Hat, with a 7 7/8 head is big enough around, I didn't need to go taller, lol. The fitting sweat bands work well for getting the right fit so the hat doesn't move when driving around, but not so tight that I get a headache whenever I wear it. I am a bit concerned with how long the sweat fitting pieces will last, I live in FL, most hats here need to be washing machine ready, lol. I also purchased the leather conditioner they sell, and I purchased the protection package with my hat. Please note: the hat band is put in place with something similar to rubber cement. It comes off by rubbing it away, but takes a bit of time to clean the hat and band once it's removed. I've purched the Buffalo coin headband as well, so I can swap them out depending on my mood.

I wear my Marlow hat with the Indian nickel band daily. I get asked at least once a day where I got my hat. I answer truthfully that I purchased it from American Hat Makers. It's the best hat I've ever owned, and everyone should own a hat made by this company. I drive a golf cart and live in Florida . There is no company that makes a hat like this; especially one that stays on during heavy wind. Great job!

I've never owned a quality hat before this is the first one and I'm in heaven with it, and it's comfortable to wear, and it was a little big but they sent bands to put inside to make a better fit, craftsman ship is awesome on my hat.
