How to Measure Your Head
- Grab a soft measuring tape or a piece of string (like twine or a shoelace) and a ruler or measuring tool
- Wrap a soft tape or string around your head to measure about 1/4 to 1/2 inch above your ear and about 3/4 to an 1" inch above your brow line (see image)
- Mark the tape or your string, where it intersects, with your finger.
- Record your measurement in inches or centimeters (centimeters is often more accurate)
- If you're using a string, run it along side the ruler as many times as necessary to get a complete measurement
- MEASURE AGAIN!
- Always measure more than once until you get the same number twice
- Find your size in the chart for the perfect fit

Thought I needed a stiffer material to maintain its shape. But the softer, finer material has its advantages. High wind tends to bend the brim up instead of getting underneath and lifting the hat off. It also packs easier and looks better! I found that dampening areas to be shaped and then setting with a hair dryer works wonders. The Medium size seemed a little large for my size 7 head at first, but either my head grew or the hat shrunk a bit. Now it's a perfect fit and stays on in 20 knots of wind. Kinda' spendy (for me) but worth it! :-)

To be honest I haven’t worn this hat except to try on. The fit and quality is excellent. Can’t wait for spring to give it a good working out on the golf course, in the meantime I will enjoy my wool felt hats.

Originally, I thought my friend had gotten the measurement size wrong; per Americans directions , it says to put a finger in the measuring tape. Thought the hat was too big, luckily the sweat band spacers made up for it and was a comfortable fit.

I have had several average straw hats in the past 40 years. But this one is superb!! You get what you pay for in life. This was a little more expensive then the 60 dollar hats I always purchased in years past. But the fit and quality of my new hat surpassed all expectations. I called customer service to ask a question. They answered the phone and it was the company owner who emailed me back what I needed. Now I'm a customer for life. Downside is im pushing 70 and never know how long you'll be around anymore

I purchased a Summer Panama which is great design and light weight.
I did have an initial concern as my head is a little smaller than 7 3/8ths; therefore a medium is to small /a large a little big.
The bottom line is the tape adjustment worked to shape my fedora to the correct fit.
I am getting numerous compliments on the Panama Fedora.
