How to Measure Your Head
- Grab a soft measuring tape or a piece of string (like twine or a shoelace) and a ruler or measuring tool
- Wrap a soft tape or string around your head to measure about 1/4 to 1/2 inch above your ear and about 3/4 to an 1" inch above your brow line (see image)
- Mark the tape or your string, where it intersects, with your finger.
- Record your measurement in inches or centimeters (centimeters is often more accurate)
- If you're using a string, run it along side the ruler as many times as necessary to get a complete measurement
- MEASURE AGAIN!
- Always measure more than once until you get the same number twice
- Find your size in the chart for the perfect fit

had such a wonderful experience at The Panama Hat Company of St. Augustine! Tony has an amazing selection of hats, with just about every style you can imagine. From start to finish, he was incredibly patient, attentive, and helpful throughout the entire process.
I came in with a vision of having a Freddy Krueger-inspired hat created, and Tony brought that vision to life. What I appreciated most was being able to watch the process and be involved every step of the way. He allowed me to try the hat on throughout the process, making adjustments along the way to ensure I was completely satisfied with the final look.
It was raining that day, and Tony went the extra mile to protect my finished hat by carefully placing it in a plastic bag before I left. He also took the time to explain how to properly care for it, including the importance of not laying it flat because of the beautiful curve he had created. He even gave me a small plastic hat stand to help preserve its shape.
Tony is not only a talented and knowledgeable hat maker, but he’s also just a really cool guy! You can tell he takes pride in his craft and genuinely cares about his customers. His staff was professional, the shop was clean and welcoming, and the entire experience was a pleasure.

This is the first rancher or cowboy hat that I’ve ever purchased. I bought it online for a trip to Nashville and when it arrived, I had ordered the wrong size. I was able to exchange it on the website without having to pay for another hat as long as I promised to ship it back, they actually went ahead and processed the exchange and sent me out the next hat right away so that I would have it in time for my trip and then I just dropped off the hat that was too small and sent it back and I didn’t have to pay extra and everything came in time. This hat is not only beautiful to wear. It makes you feel beautiful when you wear it! The color is so vibrant. It’s gorgeous. With American Hat Makers easy to fit Velcro inside the hat it’s like it was made for your head. I added a leather band I bought from AHM’s and some feathers I had and I feel like I’m styling!
