How to Measure Your Head
- Grab a soft measuring tape or a piece of string (like twine or a shoelace) and a ruler or measuring tool
- Wrap a soft tape or string around your head to measure about 1/4 to 1/2 inch above your ear and about 3/4 to an 1" inch above your brow line (see image)
- Mark the tape or your string, where it intersects, with your finger.
- Record your measurement in inches or centimeters (centimeters is often more accurate)
- If you're using a string, run it along side the ruler as many times as necessary to get a complete measurement
- MEASURE AGAIN!
- Always measure more than once until you get the same number twice
- Find your size in the chart for the perfect fit

This was my first purchase from AHM and my only regret was not getting one sooner! Very well crafted hat that you can feel, superbly lightweight, stylish that you can dress up or dress down with and has an elastic band on inside to keep secure to your head. Definitely will keep me cool all year long here in the Caribbean. Shipping was super fast and arrived quicker than expected. For reference, I got the cream color and size is a M. The hat looks fantastic on me, (and even better on my wife.) This is the 2nd AH hat I've purchased and the quality is top notch. So, I was already a fan of American Hat Makers, but their customer service has turned me into a fanatic.

Living in south California requires a hat. This hat is vented, making it it very suitable for hard-hitting sun areas. There is a coat of varnish rendering the hat rigid, which does help in keeping its shape. Use an elastic band on the inside to keep the hat securely in place, and absorbing the sweat. Love it.
