How to Measure Your Head
- Grab a soft measuring tape or a piece of string (like twine or a shoelace) and a ruler or measuring tool
- Wrap a soft tape or string around your head to measure about 1/4 to 1/2 inch above your ear and about 3/4 to an 1" inch above your brow line (see image)
- Mark the tape or your string, where it intersects, with your finger.
- Record your measurement in inches or centimeters (centimeters is often more accurate)
- If you're using a string, run it along side the ruler as many times as necessary to get a complete measurement
- MEASURE AGAIN!
- Always measure more than once until you get the same number twice
- Find your size in the chart for the perfect fit

I've been buying hats for decades. I've got all of the big names. Including the one that rhymes with smetson. This hat is light but substantial. No flop or cheap feel. I spent more for the above company's hat and it was floppy and cheap. Not sure the type of straw but it is well sealed and I wouldn't be afraid of some rain. It was a great looking hat but I always shape mine to fit my feel. A little steam and you can customize it. Hat guys.....just buy it.

This is my second hat from American Hat Makers. I loved my first one and wanted a second, now this has become my favorite hat! The wide brim gives me the sun protection I need and the headband on the inside makes it extremely comfortable to wear all day. This hat has less vent holes than my first one but it actually seems cooler on these hot Louisiana summer days. I ordered large and wear a 7 3/8, it fits perfectly and there are adjustments that can be made for anyone’s perfect fit. I highly recommend this hat to everyone!

I have a tough time finding a hat that fits and that I like this was a perfect fit for an XL head. Mine is around 7 5/8- 7 3/4. The Hat fits perfect and looks great . I’ve had many compliments. Look of the hat is just what I wanted! Had to put sizing cushion in the front and may still need another depending on how well it stays in place when worn. While I like a no fuss fit it is really close! Glad I made the purchase!
