How to Measure Your Head
- Grab a soft measuring tape or a piece of string (like twine or a shoelace) and a ruler or measuring tool
- Wrap a soft tape or string around your head to measure about 1/4 to 1/2 inch above your ear and about 3/4 to an 1" inch above your brow line (see image)
- Mark the tape or your string, where it intersects, with your finger.
- Record your measurement in inches or centimeters (centimeters is often more accurate)
- If you're using a string, run it along side the ruler as many times as necessary to get a complete measurement
- MEASURE AGAIN!
- Always measure more than once until you get the same number twice
- Find your size in the chart for the perfect fit

This outback style hat is very different from anything I’ve worn before. I love the brown leather and the quality of this wonderful hat. I was so happy with my first Marlow top hat, I immediately bought five more hats after receiving the Marlow.

Wearing a hat like this is a style change for me and I will have to get used to how I look wearing it. By my measurements, I bought the XL which was too big but with the velcro insert, feels pretty good. The hat itself is very nicely made.

This Midnight Rider is my third hat from American Hat Makers and is, as usual, made using top quality materials combined with outstanding craftsmanship! I own two of their Cabana hats, that I love, but this is my first leather hat and it's impressive. I'm convinced that, aside from death and taxes, one other thing you can rely on is getting a top-quality product from AHM! And who doesn't love "Made In America "?

Did have to add the half size reducer for snug fit, but liked it out of the box. Would like to know if I can get one with a 3/4" wider brim? Nice leather. Should do good this winter, my felts have always ended up mush after riding in the rain.

My first hat from American Hat Makers... I actually visited the site to view and purchase the Mens Crushable Leather Outback Hat but decided to have a hat that is a little more firm, thicker leather and keeps its shape. That turned out to be the leather Midnight Rider Outback... a quality leather hat, great weight, beautiful color, excellent fit and good/sharp and handsome looking according family, friends and even strangers complimenting me on the hat when I walked my dog today.
I'll add to this review after a couple of months of wearing/using the hat here in Southern California but I'm sure it will hold up 🤠.
