How to Measure Your Head
- Grab a soft measuring tape or a piece of string (like twine or a shoelace) and a ruler or measuring tool
- Wrap a soft tape or string around your head to measure about 1/4 to 1/2 inch above your ear and about 3/4 to an 1" inch above your brow line (see image)
- Mark the tape or your string, where it intersects, with your finger.
- Record your measurement in inches or centimeters (centimeters is often more accurate)
- If you're using a string, run it along side the ruler as many times as necessary to get a complete measurement
- MEASURE AGAIN!
- Always measure more than once until you get the same number twice
- Find your size in the chart for the perfect fit

I love everything about this hat - how it fits, how it feels, how it looks. However, the photo shows a light tan band. What came on this hat is dark brown. Not bad, but not what I expected. I'm making my own band so not a huge deal, but people who want to buy this need to know it's dark brown.

I love my new hat from American Hat Makers. While looking for a place to purchase hats, it was important that they were 1) made in the U.S.A. 2) were made with quality materials; and, 3) they had a quality look to them through style and design. My new Moab Safari Hat checked off all on my list! I do wish an ex-small size was offered at AHM’s. My head size is 53-54cm and although the adjustment works, it’s not ideal.
