How to Measure Your Head
- Grab a soft measuring tape or a piece of string (like twine or a shoelace) and a ruler or measuring tool
- Wrap a soft tape or string around your head to measure about 1/4 to 1/2 inch above your ear and about 3/4 to an 1" inch above your brow line (see image)
- Mark the tape or your string, where it intersects, with your finger.
- Record your measurement in inches or centimeters (centimeters is often more accurate)
- If you're using a string, run it along side the ruler as many times as necessary to get a complete measurement
- MEASURE AGAIN!
- Always measure more than once until you get the same number twice
- Find your size in the chart for the perfect fit

I typically don't look good in hats. I actually like how I look in this one. That says a lot. I've had it less than a week and have received many compliments. I bought it to keep the sun off of my ears and neck after a skin cancer scare. I like the fit and breathability of this hat. I will probably buy at least one more.

This hat is very comfortable thanks in part to the various thickness of the included sweat band inserts. I was able to arrive at a perfect size using the medium insert.
Also it is well worth the $$ because it is so well ventilated. I switched from a Tilley hat and this is much cooler in this hot early summer. Thrilled with it so far, and have yet to try the soaker option.

The first soaker hat I ordered was just a little too snug. I reluctantly sent it back to exchange it for the next size up because we were leaving for a Grand Canyon River trip in two weeks and we live in the middle of nowhere where shipping is not speedy. I feared it would not get here in time. Ha! Fear not! Within 10 minutes of emailing American Hat Makers they responded with a QR code so I could start my return. The day they received my hat, they already had the new one sent back out and it was off to a distribution center. My hat arrived with time to spare and it fits like a dream.
