How to Measure Your Head
- Grab a soft measuring tape or a piece of string (like twine or a shoelace) and a ruler or measuring tool
- Wrap a soft tape or string around your head to measure about 1/4 to 1/2 inch above your ear and about 3/4 to an 1" inch above your brow line (see image)
- Mark the tape or your string, where it intersects, with your finger.
- Record your measurement in inches or centimeters (centimeters is often more accurate)
- If you're using a string, run it along side the ruler as many times as necessary to get a complete measurement
- MEASURE AGAIN!
- Always measure more than once until you get the same number twice
- Find your size in the chart for the perfect fit

It’s with great sadness that I write this negative review because it was extremely excited about my new American hat. The hat itself is made from great quality, the color is perfect and the look is just right. Unfortunately, my complaint comes with the packaging and shipping. Upon receiving my hat I could not wait to open it only to find that the hat was bent and had lost its shape. I thought I was going to wear it for my date that day but unfortunately I had to take it to get re-shaped. I believe the company should take more pride and spend a little bit more time packaging the hats. Once I was able to reshape the hat to something similar to the original I wore it and received so many compliments.

My hat arrived on time and in splendid condition - truly a stunning work of craftsmanship. Unfortunately, my measuring must have been in error as it’s far too small, even at an XL size. I’m now debating whether to try another or simply return this one and continue to monitor the site for new designs.

This limited edition charcoal grey felt hat feels like velvet and the hat band has quite a story behind it as explained by Kam at American Hat Makers. If you look inside the hat at the Bolman Hat Company picture the brick on the building matches the hat band. It is extremely comfortable to wear - a special addition to my hat collection! Get one before they're gone!
